2007년 9월 24일(현지시각) 미얀마(구, 버마)의 제2의 도시인 만달레이에서 미얀마군사정권의 강압군대에 항의 평화적인 시위를 벌이고 있는 미얀마 승려들. 지난 1주일전부터 미얀마 군부정권의 기습적인 휘발유값 67% 인상과 물가 5배 인상에 항의해 촉발된 시위가 승려들이 가세함으로써 대규모 시위로 확산. 지난 22일, 23일에는 10망 명 이상의 시위대가 반정부 시위를 벌였다. 이번 시위는 지난 88년 시위 이후 가장 큰 규모로 1962년부터 정권을 찬탈해 지금까지 집권해오고 있는 군사정권에 대한 반대 시위에 세계의 시선이 모아지고 있다.
